To Be Around Her

There was something warm in her face. She wasn’t pretty. She wasn’t a face that would stand out to you in any type of room, but when you looked at her you felt a smile spread across your face without permission. She granted you the warmth of smelling fresh baked cookies; familiar and inviting. When she laughed, you wanted to know her, for in her presence you felt better about life. Something about her plain, straight, dark hair and unattractively cut bangs paired with her wire-rimmed glasses spoke to you. Mild freckles peppered her face and when her cheeks drew up in delight, her face seemed almost squishy. Her teeth were offset, which you’d notice any time she would chuckle, as her mouth opened widely and she’d toss her head back and her eyes would turn to slits. Tiny spaces that almost ate her entire eye, but still brightness would leak out from. She was completely contagious and to be around her, was all that you could do.
